Unidentified bowstring?
I just salvaged an unidentified amber bow for glittering dust and instead I got a unidentified bowstring. I though you had to ID an item to salvage upgrades. Is this a glitch or something?

I think that only applies when salvaging runes.

If you don't ID it you can't select what to salvage, therefore you have the chance to salvage any component. Materials is a common thing to get from salvaging but there is the chance you can salvage one of the mods.

What I'm wondering is why one would salvage something for mats without IDing it first -- could've had a "highly salvageable" on it.

If you had used a plain old Salvage Kit, you would have only gotten materials, but obviously you must have used an Expert Salvage Kit. In that case, it's normal and not a glitch.
